James Tuohy - habitual traveller joins the 2025 expedition to Tempelfjord

James has worked in many countries, tackling projects in some of the world’s most extreme environments—including wintering in Siberia. His career has spanned offshore and onshore environments, with expertise in both engineering and HSE, and is currently focused on helping industries achieve net-zero targets in the renewables sector.

ARG Group Leader Dr. Stephen Staley said "James brings extensive experience of world travel and a can-do enthusiasm, successfully completing projects in challenging environments. This will benefit the ARG and help us deliver the valuable research work we carry out."

A passionate traveller, James has explored more than 50 countries across most continents, with Antarctica remaining a key destination to complete his global journey. James enjoys pushing his limits through adventure, having jungle-trekked, completed two Camino de Santiago routes, and worked in remote and challenging locations. Following his first expedition to Svalbard, his next goal is to explore Mongolia.

Beyond travel and work, James stays active through swimming and hiking and has a strong interest in environmental conservation. Looking ahead, James hopes to support more expeditions that contribute to sustainability and scientific research in remote regions.
