2025 Expedition Team revealed

The Arctic Research Group is delighted to announce the team members for the 2025 ARG expedition to Tempelfjorden, Svalbard.

The process of selection for expeditions is always a complex and challenging one when there are far more candidates for places on the expedition than there are places available. The 2025 expedition is no exception to this and whilst there has been the pleasure of confirming with each of the successful candidates to join the expedition team, there have been as a consequence some tricky conversations for those who are not selected this time around.

Arctic Research Group Leader, Dr. Stephen Staley commented "For those who have been selected there is a fantastic opportunity ahead of them, that provided the expedition goes ahead, and they remain fit, well, prepared and available to go, then their journey to the Arctic is getting closer".

The expedition team, supported also by the volunteers who are not going to Svalbard, will continue to work on the preparations for the expedition including a raft of logistical matters.

Expedition Leader Mike Haynes said "I'm privileged and delighted to be chosen to lead the 2025 expedition team and really looking forward to going back to Svalbard, to carry out repeats of the environmental science projects I was involved with 42 years ago, with this amazing group of volunteers. There is still a lot of effort going into the project which is all aimed at doing the necessary work to enable the expedition to go ahead and be safe, and successful, in achieving the desired outcomes".
